Higher score

A doctor-developed, ORS-style mix with 330 mg sodium per 8 oz, one of the stronger drinks in its class, backed by a small randomized trial. Pricier than it looks.

Pros and cons

Original Electrolyte Powder (ORS)

  • ORS-style formula: 330 mg sodium in just 8 oz of water
  • Small randomized study found better fluid retention than water or a sports drink
  • Adds potassium, magnesium, vitamin C and zinc
  • Buyers and reviewers consistently rate the taste highly
  • 7 g added sugar per 8 oz serving, plus sucralose
  • Each stick makes only 8 oz, so a 16 oz bottle costs about $2.25
  • Recurring complaints about powder clumping into hard blocks and dissolving poorly
  • No named third-party contaminant or sport certification

Hydration Multiplier

  • Meaningful 560 mg sodium and 370 mg potassium per stick
  • Mixes easily into 16 oz with a wide range of flavors
  • Buyers consistently credit it with less fatigue, fewer cramps and better recovery
  • Widely available in stores, on Amazon and on TikTok Shop
  • 11 g added sugar per stick (22% of the Daily Value)
  • Less sodium and more sugar than the reduced-osmolarity ORS formula; not a medical ORS
  • About $1.50-$1.56 per stick
  • No third-party testing or sport certification advertised; many buyers find it too salty

Our verdicts

Original Electrolyte Powder (ORS)

DripDrop is one of the few mainstream electrolyte powders that genuinely behaves like an oral rehydration solution, and its taste makes it easy to use when you are sick, hot or depleted. It is overkill for casual daily sipping, contains added sugar and sucralose, and costs roughly $2.25 per 16 oz once you double up, so save it for when hydration really matters.

Hydration Multiplier

Liquid I.V. is a convenient, good-tasting (to most) way to get a moderate dose of sodium and potassium when you are genuinely sweating, and it earns its popularity on convenience. For daily desk hydration, though, the 11 g of sugar, the $1.50-plus price per stick and the lack of third-party testing make it hard to recommend over water or a cheaper, better-certified mix.
