Naked Whey Grass-Fed Whey Protein (Unflavored)
A one-ingredient grass-fed whey concentrate: 25 g protein per 30 g serving with no sweeteners or additives; plain-tasting and best blended.

A budget USDA Organic vegan blend with 21 g protein and 7 g fiber per serving; a 2026 heavy-metals lawsuit against Costco is a key caveat.

Our verdict
Orgain Organic Protein is an affordable, widely available organic vegan powder that most buyers find pleasant in smoothies. Its protein per serving is modest, and the 2026 heavy-metals lawsuit plus the lack of published contaminant testing mean shoppers who prioritize purity may prefer a plant protein with third-party certification.

Orgain Organic Protein is one of the most widely bought plant-based powders with more than 65,000 buyer ratings on the Creamy Chocolate Fudge tub alone. Two scoops (46 g) provide 21 g of protein from an organic blend of pea, brown rice and mung bean protein plus chia seed, along with 7 g of fiber, 150 calories, less than 1 g of sugar and 8 mg of iron. It is USDA Organic, vegan and kosher, made without soy, dairy or gluten ingredients, and sweetened with stevia.
Combining legume and grain proteins gives a more complete amino acid profile than a single plant source, but plant blends still generally deliver less leucine per gram than whey, and protein makes up a modest share of the 46 g serving. For people avoiding dairy it remains a reasonable everyday option, especially blended into smoothies.
The main caveat is contaminant exposure. A proposed class action filed in July 2026 against Costco alleges that Orgain Organic Protein Powder in Creamy Chocolate Fudge and Vanilla Bean contains undisclosed lead, cadmium and arsenic, citing earlier testing by Clean Label Project and Consumer Reports. Orgain says its products are safe and comply with applicable food safety standards, and the allegations have not been proven. The brand does not publish batch heavy-metal results, and the powder has no third-party sport certification.
buyers rate it 4.5 out of 5, praising value, organic ingredients and how well it blends with almond milk, while texture draws mixed reviews, with some calling it gritty. At about $1.60 per serving, it is among the most affordable organic plant proteins.

Testing & quality
Protein powders carry USDA Organic certification; the brand does not publish batch heavy-metal results, and a July 2026 proposed class action against Costco alleges heavy metals in its protein powder, which Orgain disputes.
