Our verdict
Pre-Kaged is one of the safest choices for tested athletes, pairing batch-level Informed Sport certification with solid caffeine, citrulline and betaine doses. Its beta-alanine and creatine fall short of research doses and the price is on the high side, so non-competitive lifters can get more per dollar elsewhere.

Pre-Kaged is Kaged's original, gym-focused pre-workout, and its main selling point is quality control. Kaged says every batch is tested by Informed Sport for banned substances and heavy metals, which makes it one of the few mainstream stimulant pre-workouts that suits drug-tested athletes. It is also vegan and naturally flavored, with no artificial colors and 1 g of sugar per scoop.
Each scoop provides 274 mg of natural caffeine from green coffee beans (PurCaf), 6.5 g of fermented L-citrulline, 2.5 g of BetaPower betaine, 1.6 g of CarnoSyn beta-alanine, 1.5 g of creatine HCl, 6.5 g of BCAAs, 2 g of taurine and 1.85 g of L-tyrosine, plus vitamin B12, coconut water powder and an antioxidant blend.
The caffeine, citrulline and betaine are all at research-supported doses. Beta-alanine is the weak spot: 1.6 g is half of the 3.2 g minimum daily intake linked to endurance benefits. The 1.5 g of creatine HCl is also well below the 3–5 g of creatine monohydrate backed by strong evidence, and BCAAs add little for people who already eat enough protein, so part of the scoop goes to ingredients with a modest payoff.
Buyers generally praise the fruit flavors and smooth energy, but the large scoop needs 10–16 ounces of water, and some reviewers report stomach upset. At $44.99 for 20 servings (about $2.25 each), it costs more than most mainstream options, a premium that mainly buys certification and ingredient quality. Kaged notes that some lots carry a California Prop 65 warning.
