Our verdict
Culturelle Digestive Daily is our budget pick: one extensively researched strain at 10 billion CFUs, with potency guaranteed to expiration, for well under a dollar a day. Research on LGG is strongest in children and around antibiotic use, so adults looking mainly for bloating relief should keep expectations modest. It's a sensible, low-risk first probiotic to try.

Culturelle Digestive Daily is about as simple as a probiotic gets. Each capsule holds 10 billion CFUs of a single strain, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG), plus 200 mg of inulin from chicory root as a prebiotic. Culturelle states that potency is guaranteed through the date on the box when stored as directed, and the capsules are sealed in blister packs.
LGG is among the most researched probiotic strains in the world, and Culturelle cites nearly 2,000 studies on it. That volume is real, but the evidence is uneven. A 2015 meta-analysis of 12 randomized trials found that LGG lowered the overall rate of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The benefit was clear in children but not statistically significant in adults, except during H. pylori treatment. Evidence for everyday gas and bloating in healthy adults is thinner, and most of the research covers the LGG strain rather than this exact capsule.
Where Culturelle stands out is value and simplicity. A 30-count box costs about $17–18 (roughly 58–60 cents a day) and is sold at pharmacies and big-box stores. Culturelle labels it vegan and free of gluten and soy; there are no dairy-derived ingredients, though it's made in a facility that handles dairy. It's produced under FDA cGMP but carries no independent certification such as NSF or USP, and the capsule uses titanium dioxide as a colorant, which some shoppers prefer to avoid.
buyers most often credit it with better regularity and say the capsule is easy to swallow. A minority report diarrhea or gas, which the label notes can happen in the first weeks while the gut adjusts.
